Healthy Families income guidelines?

I have a 4 year olddaughter. Neither of us have health insurance. With the income I make from my job she doesn’t qualify for Medi-Cal but I think she will qualify for Healthy Families. The only thing I am concerned about is…I own a house I can’t afford to live in so I rented it out and now I am renting an apartment that I can barely afford. My concern is…Does Healthy Families consider 100% of the rent I collect as income? Or just a percentage. If all the rent is considered income then my daughter wont qualify. The thing is…The rent I collect is not really income. It doesn’t even cover the mortgage. I still have to come up with the difference to make the mortgage payment.

A couple of years ago when my daughter qualified for Medi-Cal, my worker told me that they only considered 10% of the rent I collected as income. I am wondering if it is the same for Healthy Families.

Thank you if you can provide me with any helpful answers.

They count all income, rental and earned income. If you cant afford to live in your own house, are you paying the mortgage with your rental income and are you living elsewhere? For Medi-Cal you are allowed to own a home as long as you live in it. The way you did it, you wont qualify. You will have to buy your daughter child insurance policy.

Not sure why this is in Adoption…

Anyhow, if you can explain the situation as concisely and completely as you did here, when you go to apply, then hopefully you can find out right then what the situation is.If you find that you need to adjust some things in your life and finances so that you qualify, then so be it.Do that and then apply.
